Two-Way Dual Language Enrichment Program

Crowley ISD is accepting applications for the Two-Way Dual Language Enrichment Program of English and Spanish instruction for the following students for the 2015-16 school year:
· English speaking students entering Kindergarten
· Spanish speaking students (eligible as Limited English Proficient) who will be entering Kindergarten
Students should consistently remain in the DLE program through grade 6 to receive the full benefit of the Dual Language Enrichment Program.
Program DesignStudents are formally taught to read in their native language in grade 1, and then in grades 2-5 are formally taught to read in both languages by receiving literacy instruction in both languages daily. Students are taught mathematics through the English language and social studies and science through the Spanish language in grades K (or PK) through grade 6.Students participate daily in various methods of bilingual “support” activities designed to develop social and academic bilingualism and bi-literacy as well as academic skills/concepts appropriate for the grade.
Parent Information MeetingThe DLE Parent Information Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Deer Creek Elementary School located at 805 S. Crowley, Crowley, Texas 76036. If you are unable to make this meeting, you may attend on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at Oakmont Elementary School, located at 6651 Oakmont Trail, Fort Worth, Texas.Program application and lottery formFor the 2015-16 Two-Way DLE Program Application (in both English and Spanish) please click here, and submit by April 30, 2015.
