Vapes Down!

  • Vaping is a serious health concern for teens today. Almost one in five Texas high school students has vaped in the last 30 days, and vaping rates have gone up every year. Crowley ISD wants to raise awareness among students about the negative health effects of vaping. We want to help teens quit using vaping products.

House Bill 114 has led to stricter discipline for students caught vaping on school property. This means students will be subject to a mandatory assignment to a program for substance abuse prevention and education if caught vaping on school property. The new law is part of a broader effort to address the growing problem of e-cigarette use among students, which has become a major concern for public health officials in recent years. We want our students and families to be aware of the state law and the consequences of vaping on school property. The law protects public health and ensures that students are not exposed to harmful substances while at school.

    Facts about vaping:
    • The possession of THC vape pen is subject to more severe punishment than possession of marijuana flower.
    • Any amount of THC oil, even less than one gram, is a felony offense in the state of Texas and may result in up to two years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.
    • E-cigarettes can contain more than 31 chemicals, including nicotine, which is highly addictive and can affect brain development.
    • One vape pod contains about the same amount of nicotine as 20 cigarettes.
    • Buying tobacco and vaping products while under age 21 is illegal in Texas.
    • Without conclusive studies on the long-term effects of vaping, kids are being used as test subjects.
